AI transcription service Otter.ai has unveiled a new AI assistant called Meeting GenAI that can access and summarize insights across all of a user’s meeting transcripts. This goes beyond other meeting assistants like Microsoft’s Copilot, Zoom AI Companion and Google’s Duet which can only access a single meeting’s content.
With over 50 billion meeting minutes transcribed to date, Otter is aiming to leverage its vast trove of meeting data to take business collaboration to the next level.
Key features of Meeting GenAI include Otter AI Chat which lets users ask questions and get answers drawn from historical meeting content. Users can catch up on past meetings by asking “What did I miss in meetings over the past two weeks?”
There is also AI Chat available in topic-based Channels, allowing team members to chat with each other and Otter’s AI to get insights from past channel discussions. This brings multi-user abilities similar to ChatGPT into Otter’s platform to assist teams.
An AI Conversation Summary shows live action items, assignments and a narrative overview of meeting key points. This aims to improve accountability, clarity and decision-making after meetings.
“Team-focused Meeting GenAI represents a bold step forward in AI meeting intelligence,” said Otter.ai CEO Sam Liang. “These features transcend AI note-taking and is a new paradigm that will empower Otter to proactively join live human conversations and intelligently chat with multiple human participants in real-time meetings.”
The new features are included free for Otter Basic users and in Otter’s $20/month Business plan. This contrasts with Microsoft charging $360/year for access to Copilot.
With Meeting GenAI, Otter seeks to unlock the potential of teams’ collective knowledge and propel enhanced productivity through AI.
