Davies, the professional services and technology company, has named Paul O’Brien as its first Group Chief AI Officer, signalling a significant push into artificial intelligence, the company announced on Thursday.
The newly created role is part of a series of investments by Davies to harness AI, including generative AI, across its operations. O’Brien will be tasked with advancing AI technology use throughout the organisation, developing an ethical strategy for generative AI, and expanding AI technologies across products and services.
O’Brien, who will retain his current position as Chief Technology Officer of Davies’ Global Solutions division, will report to Mark Grocott, CEO of Global Solutions, and Jen Morrissey, Chief Operations Officer.
Morrissey, who joined Davies last year to lead its global technology and operations functions, said: “As AI continues to play a crucial role in enhancing Davies client services and operations, this demonstrates our strong commitment to innovation and excellence.”
The company has already invested in AI solutions, including Lauri, a claims technology portfolio that has significantly reduced handling times for personal injury and credit hire claims.
Davies has seen substantial growth in recent years, with revenues increasing more than 25-fold since 2014. The firm now employs over 8,500 people across more than 20 countries, with major operational centres in the UK and US.
O’Brien commented on his appointment: “As Chief AI & Technology Officer, I look forward to collaborating across the business to build on our existing AI capabilities and support our teams in leveraging rapidly evolving technologies.”
